Anime Expo 2009 Artist Alley - Our location!

Hello all! I just found out where our location will be... Here is the map for Anime Expo's Artist Alley 2009:

Me, Alejandro Lee, Candice Lee, and Janet Kim will be located at Row E, table 21. If you look at the map, we're practically on the complete opposite end of where the entrance to the Exhibit Hall is (we're up against the wall).

As far as I'm concerned, most of us will be selling prints of our artwork, along with some bookmarks and pins. Alejandro will have some comics, and so will Janet. Candice will be making sculptures. Stay tuned, we'll definitely give some more information as to how to find us! Get your ticket to Anime Expo 2009, and we'll see you there! :]

Fishbowl Weekly

My friend, Shelley, started a new blog that I'm going to be participating in... Fishbowl Weekly. Weekly, the website will be updated on Sunday, with new themes. Every week, each artist who is participating, will upload pictures based on that theme. It just started this week, so keep an eye out for what's to come! :)

On another note, Nikko and I have been working on storyboards for a music video with the awesome space-kitty meowkernaut, Kate Crash!!! Check out her spam-tabulous music!

Storyboarding for Kate Crash

Recently, I took up a storyboarding job with my friend, Nikko Faber.. He will be directing Kate Crash's music video of Chinese Finger Trap.

I'm really excited to work on this project, considering it's a song that confronts the idea of America's consumerism. I don't want to give away too many of the details since we're still working out a lot of the kinks in the script. Next week I'll be able to post up some of the concepts for the film. Stay tuned for more excitement! :]

Keeping up with the times

Hey all!

Lots of opportunities have been opening up for me lately. I'm really hoping to work with Disney Consumer Products, learning and creating Disney characters (mostly females, and perhaps some animals, too)!! The internship is a 6 month long program that starts in August.

But with the hard times, I understand if I wouldn't be offered one due to "these times". Really, so many animation studios are closing down, and the ones that are open, aren't hiring :( Of course, it's just not the animation industry... Even one of the radio stations I listen to, Moving 93.9 is signed off!

But to keep my hopes up for the future, I've been drawing drawing drawing! :] I'm even working on a personal comic that I don't want to reveal just yet... It's still in the very rough stages.

OH! On another note, yesterday night, I went to see Gogol Bordello. They're a gypsy punk band, that had AWESOME stage presence. It was such a great night, and reminds me how much more I want to keep up with my musical side. :]

Anyway, onto the DRAWINGS!!!

Don't forget to check out my website, rocky-o.com for more artwork! I just updated it with tons of new artwork in the original artwork section, as well as the animals section :)

Art+Design Open Market

That's right! It's that time again for Pasadena's Art Walk in One Colorado. I'll be selling artwork on Sunday at the Art+Design Open Market. It'll be an all day event from 10AM-dusk.

I'll be selling the artwork that was "framed"*** during my graduation show. This includes all my Heroes&Bandits characters and beat boards, along with other of my favorite prints. THAT'S RIGHT! This'll be your chance to get a great print that's matted and framed. Look for some nifty freebies, too! And don't forget the usual pins, postcards, and bookmarks. Hope to see you there!!! :D

*** "framed", meaning I used matte board to frame the image. Images are mounted on foam board for sturdiness.
